History of Tennessee ACEI
Tennessee has had ACEI branches sporadically since 1939. The last active branch that was represented on the International President's Council was in 1986. In the fall of 2000, a group of W. Tenn. educators decided to organize a W. Tenn. branch of ACEI. At that time, the vision for a state branch was born.
In the spring of 2001, the local leadership of the W. Tenn. branch attended the ACEI conference where they met other Tenn. members from around the state. Together they began to plan how to organize a state branch and ultimately to host a state-wide conference. By the winter of 2002, a core of interested ACEI members from across the state met together and began to make plans for the future of Tennessee ACEI. After an initial exploratory meeting, an executive board was formed and a date set for a fall conference.
Today we celebrate many people's hard work and new opportunities for Tennessee educators, and we look forward to the re-birth of other chapters to join West TN ACEI around the state. Please visit our website often to see the contributions that current professional and student members and chapters are making to Tennessee children.
